Three Ways To Get Your License Back After It Has Been Suspended Or Revoked

Having your driver's license suspended or revoked is a horrible experience, and the wait for things to go right again is just as bad. However, there are things you can do to make this process easier and to get your license back sooner.

Take a Points Reduction Driving Class

Some states offer an option for drivers with suspended and revoked licenses to take a points reduction driving class. This is a four- to eight-hour class typically offered through a technical or vocational college on a weeknight or a Saturday. The course covers all the reasons why people lose their licenses and how to drive better in the future. Once you complete the course, you can get a certificate that you bring or mail to the correct government office with an application to restore four to six points to your license. Restoring this many points to a license that currently has no points takes a week or two, and then you can get your license back.

Purchase SR22 Insurance

This insurance is proof that you can handle your vehicle and driving privileges with greater responsibility after your license has been suspended or revoked. Most people who are required to purchase this insurance do so because they lost their license to a DUI or because they had no insurance when they crashed into someone else on the road. It may also be helpful to purchase it when you want to reinstate your license because you lost it to a series of traffic tickets and traffic violations. Whatever the circumstance, having proof that you have this policy could help your situation too.

Wait Things Out

Despite what you might think, not being able to drive is not the end of the world. If your license is only suspended or revoked for a month, there are other options to get around. All of these options require payment, but at least you would have rides to and from work and anytime you needed to do some shopping. With all the rideshare apps, buses, taxis, and subways available, a month without your license is hardly something to get worked up over. If the wait is simply too much to bear, refer back to the other two suggestions above. Both of those options will cost money as well, but at least you will be back on the road in no time.
